コロナウイルス関係の記事によくでてくる単語

最近ニュースでよく聞く、よく見る単語を集めてみました。

注意するのは、

ウイルスのように、英語だと発音が違うもの、

pneumoniaのように読みにくい単語。

social distancingには、ingが最後につきますよー。

stay home, stay at homeはどちらでも大丈夫です。

名詞なのか、形容詞なのか、動詞なのか、

カタカナでよく見る単語は気にしてみてくださいね。

どちらでも大丈夫。イギリスだとstay at homeがよく使われています。

The new corona virus has spread around the world to create a pandemic. There is no vaccine yet, so to protect ourselves we need to practice social distancing, and if the situation is very bad, go into complete lockdown, isolate ourselves and stay at home. We have to keep distance because anyone could be a carrier, even if they do not look sick. The virus is especially dangerous for people with a compromised immune system, because they can not fight the virus very well, and are likely to develop pneumonia, which is very dangerous and can even kill. We don’t yet know if having the virus and recovering lets us build immunity, but it seems likely that it does.
